Open UX Design Role?
I am helping a dear friend of mine who is looking for a role in the UX design field. They have experience in the full UX design process, defining user personas, research, UI design and mockups, user testing, branding, journey mapping, etc. They are working now, and as usual for UX, completely undervalued and underpaid. If anyone has any roles at an ethical-ish place, at least one that pays a living wage, that would be great, ta. Boosts welcome.
Because it doesn't happen very often, I celebrate every time somebody purchases one of my maze prints.
This is the maze called "Drought". I started drawing it during the wildfires of 2020. We were confined in our home as the air outside was over-the-top hazardous with smoke and 4mm of ash settled on every surface outside. I drew as I waited to hear the evacuation order that, thankfully, never came.
I updated my Ko-Fi a little. I am not really aiming to reach the goal (I mean it would be nice but it is totally fine either way) I just thought I would share it because it has been a while since I talked about it haha. You do not have to do anything, sharing is enough support. 💖 #KoFi https://ko-fi.com/badblueraven
We know volunteering to help an open source project can feel overwhelming, even when you're interested. Well here's one for those with a web UX and layout skillset:
Owncast is going through a redesign and could use your help with opinions and feedback. We'd like a person or two to act as consultants in our chat to answer questions, you don't need to actively produce or _do_ anything. We need someone to ask: "Should this be blue? Is this ugly?" Could that be you?
If anyone's wondering why there are so many artists and astronomers in the recommendations recently, it's because a large number of astronomers and artists signed up recently.
I can only reflect what is on here.
I am not choosing specific types of accounts and leaving out other types.
The FediFollows directory has lots of categories: https://mastodon.online/@FediFollows/108276705471084305
If I'm missing certain categories, please let me know about accounts that are dedicated to those topics.
Re-boosting your own posts for 'the morning crew' or 'the night crew' is an acceptable and encouraged practice here. We are largely a community of supportive people who enjoy being given the opportunity to help each other and boost content we may have previously missed.
You should never feel ashamed of promoting yourself, especially as an artist, when it's so difficult to reach people. If anyone doesn't want to see your boosts, they can just scroll past.
Indeed! Some people never see each other's posts because of differences in time zone or personal schedules.
It is okay to boost your own post so that people in other time zones can see it 👍
There is no timeline algorithm on here, everything is chronological, so self-boosting may be the only way to get your posts visible in other time zones.
Yesterday I came across a 'meme' about the second amendment in the US and it sticked with me..
The second amendment (gun BS law) was created with the Musket in mind that could fire ~max 2 rounds per minute.
These days many (US Fanboys ) don't have Muskets anymore but AR15's for example. This stupid weapon fires 400 rounds per minute ⚠️ What the actually fucking fuck is what I ask..
For hunting deer? "Protecting" yourself? From what? Aliens?
This shit is one of the things keeping me from moving there. Why would I want ppl around me who think guns are okay and cool..
I call it a sickness.
i think i'm gonna continue with the slightly less depressing theme of my #PixelArt stuff for now :P Please enjoy! And i would massively appreciate it if you could also boost this toot, it really helps a lot. Thank you in advance! ❤️
And if you would like to support me and buy some merch with this art - click this link: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/110812024
Thank you so much for checking it out! ❤️
hmmm, can anyone direct me to hashtags (or instances, or even specific accounts) where i can find other music composers/creators? i would seriously appreciate it, thanks in advance! :) please boost this toot if you can.
trying to follow this instruction:
talk about the things you love, even if you think nobody cares.
people won't ask for it at least at first, but some of them will care
and it's attractive to see someone talk about the things they love.
let go of the notion that it's worthless if you don't get a minimum number of listeners, reactions, replies.
practice caring publicly about the things you care about.
I think this is a good reminder for me. I never liked being shy anyway
