you know what's funny about being a game developer?

the only time my mother has ever been truly impressed with anything i've done (and this includes super bernie world being a top 5 release for the month on steam and getting washington post and japanese evening news coverage) was when she found out that we had hired a bunch of actors for voice acting in kitsune tails

apparently hiring actors, that's real shit

@eniko It's weird the kind of things people outside industry bubbles latch onto.

Like my dad was massively impressed by a genuinely terrible inkjet printer group test article of mine getting reprint milled into The Sunday Times, compared to, for example, massive investigative pieces for WIRED that actually changed the legislative and online content regulation landscapes.

I cannot work it out. Like, I understand that he'd be more impressed by my traditional print fiction publications than most other stuff, but printers?!?

@eniko Ooops, sorry, made it about me. Hold the chip on my shoulder for a sec, would you?

Anyway, yeah, I'm sorry your mum Just. Doesn't. Get. It. so much of the time. But at least she's maybe grasped an inkling of this being a big deal, from the presence of actors.

I cant' speak for @eniko, especially since a lot of my family are actually pretty good about it, but I enjoyed your story about the printers, if that helps.

@Njord @HauntedOwlbear i did like the printers story as well. i mean, as far as "parents being weird about achievements" can be enjoyable

@eniko @Njord Haha, thank you both. I tend to do that "anecdotes of solidarity" thing, but I know it can come off odd, so thank you for the reassurance. :blobhaj_tiny_hearts:
